A Glastonbury style festival is heading to Ibiza this summer. The world's most famous festival is taking a year off to give farmer Michael Eavis's fields and the residents of Somerset a break.

Meanwhile, Ibiza is seizing its chance to transform itself from a drug-fuelled clubber's destination into the holiday home of rockand indie. The three-day festival will incorporate outdoor stages as well as Manumission, Europe's largest superclub, which can hold 10,000 people.

Groups tipped to appear include Oasis, Snow Patrol, Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs.

Organisers say the event will be aimed at the rock fan on a budget, sold throughout Europe as a package and include flights and accommodation for those who don't want to camp. Manumission co-owner Andy McKay said: 'We are ready to up the ante.

'The sites have been identified and discussions are taking place with artists.

'Glastonbury is not happening in the UK so there is a window of opportunity this year - but we want the festival to become an annual event.'

Tickets for the event will be available soon from us and we will keep you updated as to what is happening.

Manumission Updates.
Manumission (the creators of "ibiza rocks) have their very own website dedicated to the event. No details updated yet but allways a good source to relay back to. You can find it here

Camping,mud and mad hippies?
As we all know,Glastonbury is famous for all 3 things but will the same apply to an ibiza style Glasto'? Well we can certainly tell you that there wont be any mud due to the fact that it will be the middle of june and rain is highly unlikely.Camping? Unlikley also! A hotel room is far more appealing.Go watch your favourite bands have some spanish style cider and crash back onto a lovely bed mmmmmmmm!
As for the hippies...well you are more than likely gonna bump into a few of them as ibiza was a hippie haven not so very long ago!

Energy
Andy McKay, co-owner of Manumission, once famed for its live “sex shows”, said: “At last we have 18-year-olds bringing energy back into Ibiza, which is vital if it is to stay central to youth culture. Name me the superstar DJ who can sell as many tickets as these new rock bands?
